Malaysian Participation At DSEI, UK

Malaysia recently participated in one of the biggest defence exhibitions in the world, Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in ExCeL London. Representing Malaysia as a participant was DSA Exhibition & Conference Sdn Bhd, the organiser of renowned international exhibition, Defence Services Asia (DSA), which will take place at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur from 16 – 19 April 2018.

With 30 years in the defence show business, DSA is hosted, supported and co-organised by the Ministry of Defence Malaysia. As part of the promotional activities for the event, DSA together with top government officials comprising General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affendi Raja Mohamed Noor, Chief of Defence Force; General Tan Sri Zulkiple Hj Kassim, Chief of Army; Major General Datuk Wira Zamrose Bin Mohd Zain, Assistant Chief of Staff, Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters and Dato’ Junaidah Kamarruddin, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia toured DSEI over the four days.

At DSA’s booth, the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF) signed a tripartite agreement between the government of Malaysia, DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech) and Thales for the offset related to the acquisition of AV8 wheeled armoured vehicle. TDA Armements, a subsidiary of Thales Group is the supplier for 2R2M 120mm mortar to Deftech. Representing MINDEF was Dato’ Junaidah Kamarruddin, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Defence while Thales was represented by Pierre Benard, Vice President, Vehicles and Tactical Systems. The signing was witnessed by General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affendi Raja Mohamed Noor, Chief of Defence Force and Thomas Pistre, Country Director of Thales in Malaysia.

Among the programmes conducted at DSEI is the DIT DSO - Malaysia Networking Event, DSA’s collaboration with the UK Department for International Trade Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO). The event brought together specially invited guests from UK SMEs and Malaysian companies for a networking session hosted by the DIT DSO Small Business Unit. The event took place on Tuesday (12th September 2017) at DIT DSO/UK MOD business lounge, at DSEI. Some 30 representatives from Malaysian companies and Malaysian VIP delegations were in attendance.

DSEI is a global defence and security event with five key sector-focused Zones: Air, Land, Naval, Security & Joint, all showcasing the latest equipment and systems. DSA has been participating in DSEI since the show first started in 2001. This is their ninth participation at DSEI.
