CNIM Industrial Systems provides its major principals in the Defence, Nuclear and Scientific Research sectors with optimised solutions in the area of complex systems with high technological content. Its resources and skills, deployed in synergy with those of Bertin, cover the entire life cycle of products and systems.

Associated with ambitious industrial objectives, innovation comes through the development of new products and new technologies, while being the main driver of CNIM Advanced Services.

Building on the experience acquired in its areas of excellence, such as deterrent force and bridging systems, CNIM is developing strongly in sea landing sectors around the L-CAT concept, as well as in nuclear energy and major scientific instruments (ITER and Megajoule Laser).

With all of its skills and means in engineering, methods, manufacturing, control and testing grouped on a single site, its operational organisation ensures the responsiveness and flexibility that are necessary for meeting customer needs.

Modular Assault Bridge

The Assault Bridge (sold to the DGA under the name SPRAT: French acronym for Rapid Bridge Installation System) is currently the most innovative forward bridging system, thanks to its modularity. There is no equivalent system anywhere in the world.

The system’s originality resides in the fact that the length of the bridge can be adjusted according to the width of the gap that has to be crossed.
This assault bridge includes two sections that can be deployed together or separately, by a wheeled all terrain vehicle (10 x 10): it can either deploy two bridges of 14.3 m, or one bridge of 26 m.

For the user, this results in an economy of means as well as greater operational efficiency.

This forward crossing system is characterized by:

  • excellent mobility thanks to its transport vehicle with 10 drive wheels;
  • a much lower cost of possession than for tracked vehicles.

The DGA has ordered CNIM to develop and manufacture ten SPRAT systems for the Army, together with their integrated logistical support (training, maintenance, etc...)

Sea Landing Systems

Patented by CNIM and developed using its own funds, the L-CAT (Landing Catamaran) is a totally innovative ship based on the integration of a mobile loading platform into the hull of a catamaran. In its raised position, the L-CAT is a catamaran that is transformed into a flat bottom ship by deploying its platform in the lowered position, for the purposes of unloading on any beach in the absence of port facilities.

It is intended for the landing of troops, vehicles and equipment from the amphibious craft used by the national Navy (BPC and TCD). 30 m long and 12 m wide, it offers a maximum loading capacity of 80 tonnes at a speed of approximately 18 knots, while the empty speed is 25 knots.

In 2009, the Délégation Générale pour l’Armement (DGA) informed CNIM of the acquisition of 4 EDA-R (“Rapid” Amphibious Landing Crafts) based on this concept. The contract includes the possibility of acquiring a total of 8 vessels, while entrusting their support to CNIM.

PFM Motorized Floating Bridge and its Derivatives

The PFM is used to cross wet areas or stretches of water.

It can be used as a ferry or bridge, and is very easy to deploy.

It has been in service with the French army and various foreign armies for several years.

CNIM has created and developed a new generation PFM with single controls for the drive systems, thereby cutting in half the number of personnel members required for manoeuvring.
