Secure Communications for Armed Forces, Government Authorities and Industry
For more than 80 years, Rohde & Schwarz has stood for quality, precision and innovation in all fields of wireless communications. The company is strategically based on five pillars: test and measurement, broadcast and media, secure communications, cybersecurity, radiomonitoring and radiolocation. Thanks to this strategy, the company can address diverse market segments, including wireless communications, the broadcasting and electronics industry, aerospace and defense, homeland security and critical infrastructures. The electronics group is among the world market leaders in its established business fields.
To be always close to the customer, Rohde & Schwarz has an extensive service and sales network in over 70 countries. Exports account for slightly more than 90 percent of revenues. In addition to corporate headquarters in Munich (Germany), there are regional headquarters in Singapore and in Columbia (Maryland, USA).
Military, government and civil services must be able to exchange information efficiently and securely. Rohde & Schwarz supplies interoperable radiocommunications systems for deployment on land, at sea and in the air. Rohde & Schwarz SIT GmbH has been supplying crypto products and IT security solutions to industry and government agencies worldwide for over 20 years. This Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary is a NATO supplier and, since 2004, security partner of the Federal Republic of Germany. Rohde & Schwarz is intensifying its investments in the cybersecurity market and thus enhancing the electronics group's expertise and portfolio in network security.
Secure Radiocommunications for Command and Control
Military, government and civil services must be able to exchange information efficiently and securely. This is crucial for the success of national and international operations. Rohde & Schwarz supplies interoperable radiocommunications systems for deployment on land, at sea and in the air.
In 2012, the company introduced its new generation of software defined radios (SDR) to the market with the release of the R&S SDTR. Rohde & Schwarz is now working intensively on expanding the SDR family. The R&S SDTR software defined tactical radio from Rohde & Schwarz provides secure and reliable voice and data communications for ground forces. Together with the new R&S HDR waveforms, it is fully IP-capable and delivers high data rate, jam-resistant and network enabled radiocommunications. The R&S SDTR is based on a standardized software communications architecture (SCA), allowing both standardized and proprietary waveforms to be ported to the radio. This meets the need for interoperability with allied forces during missions. The R&S SDTR radios’ new capability to form mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) enhances operational flexibility.
New Integrated Naval Communications System
The electronics company presents with R&S NAVICS – a new VoIP-based switching system with a unique security concept.
The integrated naval communications systems from Rohde & Schwarz offer technical superiority, user-friendliness and outstanding cost efficiency. It will serve as a core component for future-ready voice and data communications for all classes of ships.
The system interconnects the onboard voice terminals as well as all other subsystems for internal and external communications via a uniform IP network. It allows secure and controlled voice communications between users of networks of various classification levels on board a ship.
What is different about this system is the extensive use of ruggedized, conventional IT technology with accreditable security provided by Rohde & Schwarz. A common infrastructure is set up for all services on board, referred to as "shared network infrastructure" and "shared computing environment". The system’s open architecture also makes it easy to integrate future technological developments.
R&S MR6000A is the World’s only Military Transceiver
That also meets Civil Aviation Certification Requirements
Military aircraft can only operate freely in the world's airspace when they meet military as well as civil certification requirements. The R&S MR6000A from the successful VHF/UHF R&S M3AR airborne transceiver family is the world's first radio to ensure compatibility with military and civilian avionics specifications.
Rohde & Schwarz successfully subjected the R&S MR6000A to development processes in line with civil avionics standards for software and hardware. The radio therefore meets civil certification requirements for Level C failure classification. Level C design assurance minimizes the risk of communications failures with air traffic control.
