3rd Future Armoured Vehicles Survivability 2017 - 10/07/2017

ARTEC, IMI Systems, Krauss Maffei Wegmann and Lockheed Martin to showcase latest survivability technology

Leading OEMS, Prime Contractors and System Integrators to exhibit latest survivability technology at SMi’s 3rd Future Armoured Vehicles Survivability Conference, 14th - 16th November in London, UK.

Behind every defence forces armoured vehicle programme is a successful collaboration with industry. Leading OEMS, Prime Contractors and System Integrators will gather at SMi’s 3rd Future Armoured Vehicles Survivability this November to share the technology that goes into providing enhanced force protection. Hear technical briefings from a number of high profiled experts across both the main conference and the NEW Active Protection Systems Focus Day.

Krauss Maffei Wegmann’s Head of Department Protection, Dr Ing. Robert Bayer will discuss protection enhancement for the PUMA infantry fighting vehicle. In his session, he will cover the approaches to developing the modular system as well as the multifunctional self-protection system (MUSS). In addition, he will address the potential for integration of hard kill active protection systems within the platform and talk about managing the platform weight and size.

ARTEC’s Managing Director, Stefan Lischka will give an overview about the survivability approach within ARTEC. He will provide updates on modularity within the platform and discuss the current survivability technology. He will also talk about ARTEC’s future plans for technology insertion.

Representing Lockheed Martin UK, Mr Alex Hansell, Survivability Lead for the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme will deliver a briefing on “WCSP — A Pragmatic Approach to Integrating Survivability Techniques & Technologies”. He will cover threats in theatre and explore the ability to upgrade the platform against emergent threats.

From IMI Systems, Mr Rami Sokolower part of the Armoured Combat Systems unit will provide an overview on the Iron Fist system and discuss integration potential. He will examine capabilities and give feedback from recent test and evaluation. Furthermore, he will examine potential for integration within combat vehicle architecture.

As the only meeting of its kind solely dedicated to this capability area, this focused conference aims to deliver a strong emphasis on emerging technologies and how these might be leveraged. As well as hearing the perspectives of senior programme managers from procurement and future land requirements, the meeting aims to ensure thorough participation from the leading solution providers currently at the forefront of innovation in the survivability space.

Importantly, a key differentiator this year will be a dedicated pre-conference focus day on Active Protection System covering soft/hard kill active protection in detail. The three-day programme will cover the core areas of survivability in detail, exploring the latest platforms, vehicle architectures, passive/active protection, mobility, counter-IED, EW, un-manned/autonomous solutions, signature management and much more!

Featured speakers will include:  Advanced Blast and Ballistic Systems, ARTEC GmbH, British Army, Bundeswehr Technical Centre for Protective and Special Technologies, Czech Military Research Institute, Danish Defence and Acquisition Organisation, DSTL, German Army, IMI Systems, IMP Castle Associates Limited, Israeli MoD, Krauss Maffei Wegmann, Lockheed Martin UK, NATO, Pearson Engineering, SOUCY DEFENSE, Swedish Defence Research Agency, TNO, United States Army, United States Marine Corps, US Army, UTC Aerospace Systems and Vetronics Research Centre.
